Amherst

The town was named after Lord Jeffrey Amherst, commander-in-chief of the colonials in the French and Indian War. Amherst, NH was the birthplace of Horace Greeley, founder of the New York Tribune. The town is home to Baboosic Lake.
It is bordered by Nashua, NH, Bedford, NH, and Milford, NH.
Population was 11,566 in 2004.
Amherst Village is a picturesque part of the town that still reflects a feeling of the 18th century.
